Herminio “Checo” Correa Aponte 79 of Bronx, New York
Passed away Tuesday, October 1st 2024 at Montefiore Medical Center.
He was born June 21, 1945 son of Engrasio Correa and Maria Aponte both deceased. Herminio spent the majority of his time between his native Puerto Rico, where he spent decades building his dream home from the ground up with his own two hands, his beloved Bronx and Washington, Pennsylvania.
Herminio was a very hard worker, working as a commercial truck driver for over 30 years. He was known far and wide for his charm, amazing story-telling and sense of humor. Herminio was an avid baseball fan, playing and coaching for many years and always watching and cheering on his New York Yankees. In his spare time he enjoyed playing dominos in Crotana Park, watching the Price is Right with his daughters and listening to Puerto Rican music. Herminio loved to sing, loved horses and spending time with his family who will miss him every, single day forever.
Surviving are sons Albit Correa (59) of Puerto Rico, Herminio Correa Jr. (45) of Las Vegas, Nicholas Correa (38) of New York and daughters Katherine Awilda Correa (33) and Glenda Lee Correa (31) of Washington, Pennsylvania. A private viewing was held for immediate family following his passing.
