Lauriano Quinones Obituary

Lauriano “Larry” Quinones AKA Bobby was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and
friend. Larry had one daughter Karen Quinones with his first wife Carolyn Quinones
(predeceased him). He always wanted boys and was blessed when his daughter had t, and
nothing brought him more joy than seeing those he loved grow and succeed. wo boys with her
husband James. He was extremely happy. Family meant everything to him.
He always had something funny to say — or at least he thought it was funny — and his sense of
humor and quick wit left lasting memories with everyone who knew him.
A fighter through and through, he survived prostate cancer, endured two strokes, and underwent
heart procedures requiring stents — facing every challenge with strength, resilience, and
determination that inspired those around him.
He began his career working at JFK Airport as a mechanic before continuing his career at
General Motors in Tarrytown, New York, where he became a highly respected union
representative known for his dedication, leadership, and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, he was widely known for his love of paddleball. After retirement, the courts
became his second home. Whether he was playing in Co-op City Section 5, Section 1, or at
Orchard Beach, he could always be found enjoying the game he loved and the friendships that
came with it.
He is survived by his loving daughter Karen Quinones-Smith and her husband James Smith, his
Grandsons Brandon and Christoher Smith, his Brother Domingo and his wife Jeanette Quinones,
Nephew Frank Quinones and his wife Cynthia Quinones (their children Dominck and his wife
Jaime Quinones, their child Enzo Quinones), Christopher Quinones Anna Leigh and her husband
Gary Leigh (their children Jayson Leigh and Justin Leigh), Niece and Tyler Quinones, Niece
Anna and her Angel Gomez (their Daughter Gia), godson Herman Campos Jr. and a host of and a
host of loving family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Anna and Angel Gomez for bringing him
food every Wednesday, checking on him daily, and showing him unwavering kindness, care, and
love. A heartfelt thank you as well to Frank Quinones for always being there to put a smile on his
face and the constant support, and for bringing comfort and joy during difficult times.
The family would also like to sincerely thank all of his cousins for the love, support, prayers,
phone calls, visits, and encouragement they gave him when he needed it most. You reminded
him that he was never alone, and your kindness meant more to him and the family than words
can truly express. You may have thought he did know it was you, but he did. I always told us
when you called him.
I would be remiss not to mention his neighbors the ones that called me when he needed my help.
They were always there for him when he family could not be.
Last but not least; to the paddleball crew — thank you for never forgetting about him, for always
checking on him, and for the friendship and loyalty you gave him throughout the years.

His laughter, strength, and spirit will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by all who knew and
loved him.
