On the morning of Friday, November 24th, 2023, Veneranda Rodriguez Torres, 95, passed away. Upon relocating from Greensboro, NC, Veneranda lived with her daughter, Alice in NYC. It was here where she died on home hospice care surrounded by the objects she loved while her favorite song “Eres Tu” played and filled up the room. Veneranda’s nickname was Benny and she was one of six daughters: Josephine, Olga, Georgina, Gardenia, and Virginia. The sisters were all born in Tampa, Florida to Cuban/Spaniards Cecilla Quesada and Lorenzo Rodriguez. Besides Alice, Veneranda leaves behind her son Felix Jr. and daughter Judith; six grandchildren, Frank, Kristine, Rene, Priscilla, Heather, and Marcel; and five great-grandchildren, Braelyn, Isabelle, Isaac, Ethan, and Addison. Veneranda’s first daughter JoAnn preceded her mother’s death. What Benny loved most was to play lotto, cook and dance to the Danzón. In the Lord’s kingdom, Veneranda is now reunited with her deceased husband Felix Torres whom she was married to for 75 years. May she rest in peace.
